Take a step back in time and delve into the history of this longstanding establishment with a Tonbridge Castle Gatehouse Tour. Offering an interactive recreation of medieval life, where you can explore the well-stocked basement and armoury, take a seat at the guards' table to learn about the castle's past and climb to the top of the tower to look out across Tonbridge town.
You can opt to either explore the castle at your own pace with a written tour, or take an informative and engaging audio tour which is provided at no extra cost. The audio tour lasts approximately one hour and includes an optional tour of the castle grounds which lasts an additional 30 minutes. Please, however, note that the audio tour is subject to availability and we may not always be able to provide this at peak times.
The tour takes you on a journey through time, from 1066 to the modern day, the audio tour depicts the stories of the kings, archbishops and tyrants that have formed over 950 years of history at Tonbridge Castle.
The audio tour is available in English, French, German, Dutch or Spanish.

The castle is open from 9 am-5 pm Monday-Thursday, 9 am-4.30 pm Friday, 9 am-5 pm Saturdays and 10.30-4.30 pm Sundays.
Please note that the castle tour may be unsuitable for very young children as it is dark in places and includes life-like models.
For large groups, one person goes free for every 10 people purchasing entry to the castle.
