Take a step back in time and delve into the history of this longstanding establishment with a Tonbridge Castle Gatehouse Tour. Offering an interactive recreation of medieval life, visitors can explore the well stocked basement and armoury, take a seat at the guards' table to learn about the Castle's past and climb to the top of the tower to look out across Tonbridge town.
Visitors can either opt to explore the Castle at their own pace with a written tour, or can take an informative and engaging audio tour at no extra cost. The audio tour lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour and includes an optional tour of the Castle grounds which lasts an additional 30 minutes.
Taking visitors on a journey through time, from 1066 to the modern day, the audio tour depicts the stories of the kings, archbishops and tyrants that have formed over 950 years of history at Tonbridge Castle.
The audio tour is available in English, French, German, Dutch or Spanish.
The Castle is open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Saturdays and 10.30-4.30pm Sundays.
Please note that the Castle Tour may be unsuitable for very young children as it is dark in places and includes lifelike models.
For large groups, one person goes free for every 10 people purchasing entry to the Castle.
